One Business Laying Off, Another Hosted Open House

According to the Connecticut Post, "Oce North America Inc., the Trumbull-based servicer of printers and copiers, will lose 135 jobs in Connecticut as a result of consolidations taking place three years after being acquired by a Japanese company."

"James Magrone, an Oce spokesman, said the cuts are part of an overall integration plan that has been developed over three years, since Canon Inc. bought the copier and office equipment company," the paper stated.

COOPERSURGICAL HOSTS “MADE WITH PRIDE” OPEN HOUSE

AT TRUMBULL MANUFACTURING FACILITY

The “Made With Pride” Open House featured something for attendees of all ages. Guided tours of CooperSurgical’s redesigned plant included the first public viewing of a unique “Hall of Heroes” that celebrates the company’s Connecticut-based manufacturing employees. “Café 95” was also unveiled during the Open House event. The upscale on-site dining facility will provide associates with a wide selection of hot and cold meals, an extensive salad bar and free refreshments throughout the day.

In addition to a steak and lobster B-B-Q, Open House attendees were entertained by a full-fledged carnival that was on hand in the company’s parking lot.  The carnival offered free rides, games, prizes and entertainment throughout the event.
