One Business Laying Off, Another Hosted Open House

According to the Connecticut Post, "Oce North America Inc., the Trumbull-based servicer of printers and copiers, will lose 135 jobs in Connecticut as a result of consolidations taking place three years after being acquired by a Japanese company."
"James Magrone, an Oce spokesman, said the cuts are part of an overall integration plan that has been developed over three years, since Canon Inc. bought the copier and office equipment company," the paper stated.

AT TRUMBULL MANUFACTURING FACILITY
CooperSurgical, a global leader in women’s health care and major employer based in Trumbull, CT, hosted a “Made With Pride” Celebration and Open House for nearly 1,000 employees, their families, and guests on Saturday, October 27, 2012, from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The event held special significance for the company as it marked the completion of a multimillion-dollar redesign of its state-of-the-art medical device manufacturing facility located in Trumbull. CooperSurgical produces a growing portfolio of medical products used by clinicians around the world in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide spectrum of women’s health issues.
“Made With Pride” Day was a “celebration of our success as an American company and a way to say ‘thank you’ to our associates and their families in a unique way,” says CooperSurgical President and CEO Paul Remmell. “Over the past 22 years, our people have built this company into a global leader in women’s health care. In many respects, our extraordinary success is the direct result of the dedication and hard work of our more than 300 associates who work right here in Trumbull, CT. The “Made With Pride” Open House featured something for attendees of all ages. Guided tours of CooperSurgical’s redesigned plant included the first public viewing of a unique “Hall of Heroes” that celebrates the company’s Connecticut-based manufacturing employees. “Café 95” was also unveiled during the Open House event. The upscale on-site dining facility will provide associates with a wide selection of hot and cold meals, an extensive salad bar and free refreshments throughout the day.
In addition to a steak and lobster B-B-Q, Open House attendees were entertained by a full-fledged carnival that was on hand in the company’s parking lot. The carnival offered free rides, games, prizes and entertainment throughout the event.
