CT Coronavirus Updates: New Town-By-Town Numbers Released

Connecticut now has more than 5,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and more than 1,000 hospitalizations.

HARTFORD, CT — Connecticut had another 362 laboratory confirmed coronavirus cases reported Saturday along with 33 more deaths. The state also had 124 additional hospitalizations, which brings the total to 1,033.

Connecticut has had a total of 5,276 confirmed cases and 165 deaths. There have been more than 22,000 coronavirus tests administered.

There have been coronavirus cases at 55 of Connecticut’s 215 nursing homes. A total of 281 nursing home residents have tested positive, 90 have been hospitalized and 33 have died. The hospitalization rate among nursing home residents who test positive is 32 percent and the death rate is 12 percent as of Saturday.

The new numbers also reveal that New Haven County is now exceeding 1,000 cases.

  • Fairfield: 2,824 cases, 86 deaths
  • New Haven: 1,024 cases, 29 deaths
  • Hartford: 726 cases, 26 deaths
  • Litchfield: 182 cases, 5 deaths
  • Middlesex: 100 cases, 4 deaths
  • Tolland: 91 cases, 10 deaths
  • New London: 57 cases, 3 deaths
  • Windham: 31 cases, 1 death
  • Pending address validation: 241 cases, 1 death

The number of hospitalizations by county include:

Of the 165 deaths, 85 involve people over the age of 80; 41 between the age of 70 and 79; 23 between the age of 60 and 69; 7 between the age of 50 and 59; 6 between the age of 40 and 49; 2 between the age of 30 and 39; and one newborn. Of the total deaths, 102 are men and 62 are women.

North Branford reported its first coronavirus-related death Saturday and Madison reported its second death. Electric Boat President Kevin Graney announced that he tested positive for the coronavirus. Six EB workers have tested positive, including four at the company’s Groton shipyard.

Gov. Ned Lamont announced that FEMA has approved Connecticut’s request to add survivors of domestic violence to the groups of people in Connecticut who can use non-congregate housing. (To sign up for free, local breaking news alerts from more than 100 Connecticut communities, click here.)

“This will be a big help in our efforts to keep people safe,” Lamont tweeted Saturday.

Connecticut had previously approved similar housing for first responders and health care workers who need to stay separate from family members or roommates. The homeless also qualified for the housing availability.

Lamont also announced that the state’s public schools have served more than one million meals through the state’s emergency meals program since he ordered schools closed. A total of 128 school districts are serving meals at 407 locations.

Connecticut has also compiled a list of some restaurants, breweries and vineyards that are offering takeout or delivery service.
