Credit Card Fraud Thwarted in Trumbull: PD

A woman tried to buy a Mac computer with a fake credit card, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Brooklyn woman was charged with credit card fraud after she tried to purchase a $1,699 Macbook Pro at Best Buy in Trumbull, police said.

Isattta Bassie, 24, went to the store to pick up an online order. She showed the credit card used for the purchase and a Best Buy employee suspected it was fraudulent, police said.

Bassie fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later stopped by police.

She had three ID cards on her, two of which were fakes from Pennsylvania, police said.

She was charged with criminal attempt at third and fourth-degree larceny, criminal attempt at illegal use of a credit card, third-degree forgery, criminal attempt at forgery or symbols of value and tampering or fabricating. She was held on a $10,000 bond.
