A moderate hike along the wooded trails on the east side of the Pequonnock River Valley will allow hikers to explore the history and nature of the area. ( Hike will last approximately 2.5 miles between Park Street and Indian Ledge Park.)
Along the hike, guides will point out natural resources and threats they face and will view historic sites including ruins of the Tait paper mill, the site of WWII plane crash and other archeological aspects of the valley.
Joining hikers will be local historian Sue DelBianco, THS president Ken Martion and member from the Pequannock River Initiative.
Different from last years hike along the west side of the river - this years hike will feature narrower trails - but will use a leisurely pace and anyone in reasonable shape - including children are encouraged to participate in the hike.
The hike will begin at the woods at the Park Street commuter lot (Rt 25 exit 9) and there is NO CHARGE for the hike.
An accompanying guide to valley historic sites will be on sale for $2 and all proceeds will benefit the Historical Society.
RAIN DATE::: Sunday, Oct. 24, also at 11 a.m.
