Former Radio Personality Needs Help After Several Health Setbacks

The local resident is battling cancer and has also suffered a stroke that has left him legally blind.

TRUMBULL/SHELTON, CT — A local resident, Gary Silvia, has been dealt with one serious health problem after another and is need of help from the community.

Robert Hammond, who is pastor of Long Hill Baptist Church in Trumbull, has begun a GoFundMe campaign to help raise funds for Silvia's expenses. A goal of $2,500 has been set and currently $300 has been raised.

The GoFundMe states, "Our friend, Gary Silvia (aka familiar radio personality Gary Christopher), has recently suffered a series of major health challenges that have prevented him from working. After being diagnosed with cancer, Gary underwent surgery which resulted in a cholostomy bag.

"Gary continues regular chemotherapy treatment for his cancer. After being diagnosed with cancer, Gary suffered a stroke that resulted in the loss of his vision. Despite all of his difficulties, Gary has maintained a great attitude -- and desires to be a help to others. That said, at this time, his illness has resulted in financial challenges. Any help would be greatly appreciated."
