John “Pop” Klinko, age 91 of Trumbull husband of the late Grace Ferencek Klinko passed away on Wednesday April 27, 2016 at his home at Middlebrook Farms. Born in Pottstown, PA he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Svetz Klinko.
He was a graduate of Bassick high school and proudly served his country serving in the US Army during WWII. John was a printer and owner of J&K Associates of Trumbull for 35 years. He was also a toll collector for the State of Connecticut before his retirement. He was a 50 year mason with St. John’s Lodge , an avid gardener and an active member of the First United Church of Christ.

Survivors include his beloved daughter and son in law; Kathie and Edward Viola of Stratford, 1 sister; Helen Lemry of Indiana, 2 grandchildren; Gary ( Marilee) Root of Milford, Dan ( Samantha) Root of Stratford, 4 great grandchildren, Jake and Gracyn Root of Stratford and Tyler Root of Milford and predeceased by great granddaughter Halle Anne Root. Also survived by daughter in law, Dawna Klinko of Maine. He was also predeceased by his son, John Joseph Klinko, and 2 brothers, Joseph Klinko and Steve Blinko.
The family would like to thank the staff at Middlebrook Farms for their kind and loving care. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 1734 Huntington Tnpk, Trumbull with Deacon Lee Forshaw, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Grove of Easton Cemetery, Easton. There will be no calling hours and in lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to: Halle’s Hope, P.O. Box 397, New Canaan, CT 06840, a foundation dedicated to building hope and creating possibilities for children.
