Local Meals Program Supports Trumbull Residents, Restaurants

Trumbull's Local Meals Program provides residents impacted by COVID-19 with an allotment of lunches and/or dinners from local restaurants.

TRUMBULL, CT — Trumbull encourages residents impacted by COVID-19 to take advantage of the town's Local Meals Program.

According to a news release, the program provides residents who have been impacted in some way by COVID-19 or have a need within their families with an allotment of lunches or dinners from participating restaurants in town.

Residents are screened for the program and must provide information about how they are currently being impacted by COVID-19. Some examples include being diagnosed with COVID-19, being in quarantine, financial insecurity or homebound/isolation, according to the town.

Once approved for the program, residents receive information necessary to participate from the Trumbull Human Services Department. As of Monday, 10 Trumbull restaurants have signed up for the program, town officials said.

Residents can order off regular restaurant menus, however the program does not provide for eat-in dining; only takeout, curbside pickup or delivery.
