Majority Of Trumbull Parents Will Send Kids Back To School
A recent survey by Trumbull Public Schools found a large majority of parents intend to send their children back to school in the fall.
TRUMBULL, CT — A large majority of parents who responded to a school reopening survey said that they plan to send their children back in the fall.
The survey was sent out by Trumbull Public Schools and around 75 percent of parents responded; around 86 percent of parents said they plan to send their children back to school in the fall. The results were shared at a recent Board of Education meeting.
Parents who said they didn’t plan to send their children back were asked about their concerns. The top answers were the difficulty of cleaning and keeping social distancing. There were also concerns about mask use. Some parents were concerned that students wouldn’t properly wear masks and others were concerned about long periods of mask use.

Some parents were concerned about students with special health needs that could have compromised immune systems.
The survey found that 73 percent of parents plan to send their children to school with a bagged lunch. The rates were higher among younger students with 88 percent of parents with pre-K children saying they would pack a lunch. The rate among high school students was 64 percent.
