Man Had 13+ Fraudulent Credit Cards at Trumbull Mall: PD

An employee at the mall suspected one card was a fake, which led police to make an arrest.

TRUMBULL, CT — Police arrested a Elmount, NY man after he used fraudulent credit cards to purchase $300 worth of gift cards at two stores in the Trumbull mall, according to police.

Police were called to the mall May 4 after a complaint was made by a Kid's Footlocker employee about a suspected fraudulent use of a card. Police apprehended a man who fit the description within the mall.

Malik Ricketts, 22, bought a $100 gift card at Foot Action and two $100 cards at Claire's, police said. Another 13 fraudulent cards were found in a nearby trash can. To sign up for Trumbull breaking news alerts and more, click here.

He was charged with illegal use of a credit card and 19 counts each of third-degree identity theft and unlawful reproduction of a credit card. He was held on a $10,000 bond.
