Man Pleads Guilty To Trumbull Rape, Burglaries

The man sexually assaulted a woman at gunpoint in her back yard, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — A man pleaded guilty to a Trumbull rape, several burglaries and other crimes in Superior Court Tuesday.

Geraldo Maldonado, 21, of Bridgeport broke into a female victim's home in October 2015 and sexually assaulted her in her backyard, police said. He was previously charged with several area burglaries before the sexual assault charge.

Bridgeport Police also arrested Maldonado after he was involved in a crash in April 2016 that killed David Anderson, 22. To sign up for Trumbull breaking news alerts and more, click here.

Maldonado pleaded guilty to aggravated first-degree sexual assault, home invasion, first-degree kidnapping with a firearm, burglary charges and misconduct with a motor vehicle, according to the Connecticut Post. Superior Court judge said he would sentence him to 25 years in prison.

He faced up to 121 years if found guilty of all charges, the Post reports.
