McGovern Matter Forwarded to Ethics Commission

The Police Commission voted to send the matter to the town's Ethics Commission.

TRUMBULL, CT—Police Commissioner Roger McGovern will go before the Ethics Commission after a Police Commission vote Monday.

McGovern was the subject of a harassment complaint after he confronted a man about damage to his vehicle near his home and at his place of work, according to police.
The Police Commission went into executive session to discuss the matter and voted 4-0 to forward the matter to the ethics board, according to the Trumbull Times. McGovern abstained from the vote.

Police commissioners are appointed by the first selectman and oversee matters related to the police department.

The man told McGovern he was going to call the police after he visited his home and place of work on different occasions. McGovern replied, “I am the police,” and left in the last incident, according to a police report.
