Irene D. (Homko) May, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 17, 2015 in Branford.

She was born on October 9, 1920 in Bridgeport and was a 35 year resident of Fairfield before moving to Trumbull in 1998 and ultimately Branford. She graduated from Central High School and spent 22 years as a teacher’s aide in the Bridgeport public schools before retiring in 1990. In Fairfield she was active in local PTA and Mothers Circle and was a member of St. Pius X Parish.

Her life revolved around her family. Irene was preceded in death by husband Kenneth and sisters Anne Sinclair, Mary Toth, Helen Stueller and brother John Homko of Miami, FL.

Irene is survived by daughters Deb (Sam) Thorpe of Shallote NC and Maureen Ghiroli of San Diego CA; sons Chris May of Branford and Tim (Lynn) May of Dublin OH; grandchildren Megan (Calvin)Sowell; Brittany Ghiroli; Ryan May; Kelly May; April Ghiroli; Lindsay Ghiroli and Hannah May; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 2 at St. Mary Church, 731 Main St., Branford, at 9:30 am. Family members will receive friends at the church after the Mass. Private burial at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, CT.
