Obit: James Dionis, 88 of Trumbull
He was a veteran of the Korean War and former owner of Dionis Supermarket in Bridgeport.

James T. Dionis, age 88 of Trumbull, CT, passed away peacefully in his home on January 30, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Pandora Gregory Dionis for 63 years. Born in Bridgeport on February 13, 1928, he was the son of the late Theodore and Kaliroi Dionis.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the US Air Force. James worked in the grocery business for many years and was the former owner of Dionis Super Market on Wood Avenue in Bridgeport. He served as the President of the Crown Grocery Stores Coop. James was also proud to be President of the Mary James Fund that assists women of Albanian and Greek descent. He was an avid card player and was devoted to his family and his dear friends. He could often be found cheering on his family members’ sporting events. He worked tirelessly for his church and loved working in the St. George kitchen.
He received the St. Constantine and St. Helena award from the Albanian Archdiocese for his devotion and work with his church. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Dionis and his sisters Christine (Donald) Morrison, Marion (Thomas) Nicholas and Floretta (Peter) Seamon and son-in-law David Snedegar. He is survived by his loving children, Sandra Long and her husband Michael, Andrea Snedegar, Laura Denisevich and her husband David and Theodore Dionis and his wife Janet along with his devoted sister-in-law Pauline Dionis. He also leaves behind 9 loving grandchildren, Caitlin, Christine, James, Julia, Anne, Caroline, James, Clara and John and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday February 4, 2017 in St. George Albanian Orthodox Church, 5490 Main Street in Trumbull, CT. 06611 with the Archpriest Dennis Rhodes officiating. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull. Friends are invited to call from 4pm to 7pm on Friday in St. George Albanian Orthodox Church, with Trisagion service at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. George Albanian Orthodox Church in memory of James. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St. Bridgeport has been entrusted with the services.
