Being an artist all her life, her talents led to her career at Norcross Greeting Cards in New York City, designing greeting cards, gift wrap and playing cards from 1939 to 1947. She also perfected the art of silk-screening, making all her own personal greeting cards and stationery.
She created carpet designs in the 1960’s, and was always making jewelry from collected sea shells and sea glass.Throughout their life together, Ace and Bob enjoyed camping at Nickerson State Park on Cape Cod, traveling the U.S. in their motor home, and involvement with Barbershop singing groups (Bob being the singer, Ace being the concert set designer). Ace loved music, watching Tiger Woods golf, cheering on her Yankees, and talking politics with anyone that would listen.

They were “snow birds” – spending winters on Hutchinson Island and Key Largo, FL. Her love of travel began on a banana boat to Haiti with a girlfriend just out of high school, and then to most all shorelines of the U.S. (and in between).
Hardly a day went by without her wearing a butterfly pin, hairclip, necklace or bracelet, and having numerous butterflies scattered around her homes, which resulted in her nickname “the butterfly lady.”
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Brunelle and partner James Richards of Milford, CT; son, Steven Danielson and wife, Cindy of Missouri; grandchildren, Kelly Reed and husband David of Pittsburgh, PA, and Ryan Brunelle and wife, Julie of Monroe, CT. She was known as G.G. Ace by her beautiful and cherished great-grandchildren, Taylor and Alexis Brunelle, and Hensley Reed. Besides her parents, Althea was preceded in death by her grandson, Kevin Brunelle, and her sister, Dorcas Sewell.
