Officials Launch Effort to Clean Up Trumbull Center

Empty storefronts reportedly have helped lead to some problems in the area.

Trumbull, CT - A plan has been unveiled to clean up Trumbull Center, an area reportedly plagued by a growing heroin problem, and empty parking lots and store fronts.

Officials hope that creating access to the center from nearby walking trails will help bring back foot traffic to the area, reports the Trumbull Times.

The increased presence of people in the area could help drive out the heroin dealers, which community advocate Theresa Doonan claims is rapidly becoming an issue. The abandoned nature of parts of the center has become a magnet for drug activity, she says.

A proposal to tear down a portion of a commercial building on White Plains Road could also help clear the way for a new structure that could hold a CVS Pharmacy, which would move from its current spot across the street.
