Owner and Operator: Carrie Memmesheimer

She opened the business in November 2011. It offers all sorts of cookie baking activities, from parties to indiviudual cookie decorating.

"I've always enjoyed baking ever since I was little," Memmesheimer said.

In addition to her current offerings, she's always working on expanding her flavor selection.

She charges $15 for a platter of 12-24 cookies. Flavors include frosted, flavored sugar cookies; chocolate chip cookies; gingersnaps and oatmeal cookies. Cupcakes are $18 a dozen with flavors of vanilla and chocolate and buttercream frosting.

 

Q. What is your business history?

A. I was laid off from my company of 16 years. I'm applying my business [experience] with my love of baking.

 

Q. What activities do you offer?

A. You get cookie dough, which you roll out and decorate with icing and sprinkles. We sell platters of cookies and cupcakes. We also have gluten-free cookies. You can stop and make your own cookies. We're working on selling cookie-dough making kits.

 

Q.What's your secret?

A. You try to have really good-tasting products for families.

 

Q. Where do your recipes come from?

A. I started with some basic recipes and tweaked it. The sugar cookies and the chocolate chips [are popular]. Everyone loves the chocolate chips. We were able to find a nut-free M & M substitute. People love buttercream frosting on the cupcakes.

 

Q. How's business so far?

A. It's kind of word of mouth. It's catching on.

 

Q. How do avoid eating your own product?

A. I have a sweet tooth. I have good self-control.
