Passover Food Distribution In Trumbull
Volunteers are bringing Passover foods to residents.
Press release from Jewish Family Service: Harvey Paris, President of Jewish Family Service, has announced that JFS will be distributing Passover food this year, as the Fairfield agency has done since the 1920's. Why is this Passover different from all other Passovers? According to Paris, food distribution during the covid crisis presented numerous challenges.
In other years the food was provided by B'nai Brith's Project Hope. They would purchase and provide the Bridgeport Jewish Community with over 100 shopping bags filled with Passover foods. Jewish Family Service volunteers helped pack the bags and distribute them to individuals and families in our community.
This year B'nai Brith was forced to cancel Project Hope. It was obviously not appropriate to bring the dozens of needed volunteers together to pack up the bags during the time of social isolation.

JFS wrote a letter to the community seeking donations in order for the agency to purchase Passover Food. We were so gratified that concerned families and individuals gave graciously. Additionally the Bridgeport Rotary Club generously provided funding that enabled JFS to meet all the requests that came in to date for Passover food.
Another tribute to the power of humanity during these unusual times, volunteers were willing to brave the local supermarkets to purchase and bag the needed Passover food. This Monday, two days before Passover begins, the JFS volunteers will be bringing the bags of food to individual doorsteps throughout our community as well as to congregant housing complexes such as Hollander, Maplewood and Norman Housing in Bridgeport as well as Stern Village in Trumbull.
