What is your occupation?
24 year high school history/social studies teacher.
Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.
Been married for 16 years and we have 3 daughters, ages 14, 11 and 10.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
My husband is running for planning and zoning.
Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?
No.
Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
I want to help my community and bring reasonable conversation to the table.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Increased expenses, particularly tax burden. Would like to increase the business opportunities in town so the tax burden is dispersed more.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I am new to this willing to think outside of the political box.
If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?
The tax burden has increased substantially in the passed few years.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Strain on resources, particularly in schools. The schools in Trumbull are very crowded.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Totally new to politics, but have negotiated with various school building administrators seeking resolutions to internal problems with policy.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Listen to people, as everyone’s story is different and then help them see the universal similarities between us all.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
It is not about politics; it is what is best for the town.
