TRUMBULL, CT — The 2023 municipal election is heating up in Trumbull and there are plenty of local races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Trumbull Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as Election Day draws near.

Democrat Anthony Musto, 55, is a Trumbull resident running for Treasurer.

What is your occupation?

Attorney.

Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.

Married to Kathy with three children.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

Wife is a public school teacher.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

Current Treasurer since 2015, State Senate, Town Council, Land Acquisition Committee, Pension Board.

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I have been serving the town in some capacity since 2003 and want to continue helping.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Taxes. I continue to invest town funds to earn income and mitigate taxation.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Experience doing the job and my financial background. That said, John is a good man and has a long history in our town.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Supporting the goals of our first selectman, Vicki Tesoro, to reduce spending and support education.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Refinance to reduce expenses. Invest and manage accounts to maximize interest. Working with banks to keep fees low.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Stop talking and do something.
