What is your occupation?
Attorney for 27 years
Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.
Wife, Sonya, and two boys -- one recent THS graduate and one soon to be.
Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
Not applicable.
Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?
Current Chairman, Trumbull Land Acquisition Committee; Former Chairman, Trumbull Economic and Community Development Commission; Former Trumbull Town Council Member.
Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?
We all work hard taking care of and doing right by our families. I am running for Town Council to help make sure that our local government works hard to do right by us.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The most pressing issue is our quality of life. After all, this is our community and there is nothing more important than what is happening immediately around us. I intend to make sure that we get the most value we can out of every dollar we choose to spend -- whether it be on schools, public safety, parks, zoning, roads, senior programs or similar efforts to make our lives better. Being as efficient with our dollars as possible will help keep our taxes under control and make sure government is being prudent when it comes to spending our money.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
Everyone seeking a Town Council position is a volunteer, so I like to think all of our hearts are in the right place. The difference between myself and the other candidates is my experience as both a lawyer and background in business. My experience as a lawyer will help in navigating our government's rules and procedures and, more importantly, asking the critical and difficult questions about decisions that will guide Trumbull's future. My background in business has taught me that solutions need to be comprehensive, practical and balance multiple perspectives.
If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?
Not applicable.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
There are only two other issues. First, that voters learn about the candidates before Election Day. Readers of these Patch profiles are already doing that! Second, that voters come out and vote on November 7. Casting a ballot is the best way we can express what we want for the future of Trumbull.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have volunteered for years in Trumbull, both in government roles and in community activities such as our AYSO rec soccer program as a board member. My experience as both a member and chairperson of a variety of boards, commissions and committees has provided me with valuable experience to take on the challenges of being a Town Council representative.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
"Call her." Over 20 years of marriage later, it's still the best advice I ever received.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am excited to get started with Town Council and working with everyone, regardless of party, and would be honored if you cast one of your three Town Council votes for me.
