Patch Picks: Vibes is Here, Art and the Beardsley Zoo

Gathering of the Vibes takes over Bridgeport and more local fun this weekend

The Gathering of the Vibes will be at Seaside Park in Bridgeport once again this year. The 16th annual Vibes festival will include a huge variety of live music, entertainment, food, vendors and family-friendly fun. The music and arts festival has been running for 16 years and has called Seaside Park its home for six. Gather friends and family for a weekend of fun. Bands in attendance range from Bob Weir and Phil Lesh's Furthur, Elvis Costello and the Imposters, Jane's Addiction, Dark Star Orchestra with Donna Jean Godchaux, Ryan Montbleau Band and lots more. For a full lineup and schedule times visit their Facebook page or their official website. Single day tickets are still available for purchase and are even being sold at the gates. Sunday has officially been declared "Family Day" and children under 15 years old are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. There will be face painting, costume making, story reading, dancing and more. Sunday tickets for Connecticut residents are $20. The weather promises sun and fun so get your dancing gear together and get ready for some good vibes.

Housatonic Community College's Museum of Art is running a Splash! exhibition now through Friday. The showcase will show the celebrations of sumer and explorations of the meanings and interpretations behind the word. Pieces from the artists have been selected by the Museum's annual open-juried competition and have been on display since mid June. In addition to the summer-themed art will be other select pieces from the school's extensive collection. Admission the museum is free to the public at the Burt Chernow Galleries in Lafayette Hall. The Connecticut Beardsley Zoo presents a special presentation of the classic tale, The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. Stop into the zoo this Friday through Sunday with your kids for performances starting at 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. You can also pack a picnic dinner and eat at the zoo at 6:30 p.m. prior to the show. The zoo's Jungle Canteen will be open to sell snacks and coffee. Price for show is free with general admission.
