TRUMBULL, CT — Police took to social media Friday to warn residents about questionable solicitors going door to door in town asking for money.

In a Facebook post, police said they were made aware of a group of people soliciting money from residents for St. Catherine of Sienna church in Trumbull.

After an investigation, officers confirmed these people are not affiliated with the church, according to police.

"Solicitors from religious faiths do not require a solicitation permit in the town of Trumbull," police said on a Facebook, "however, should you feel uncomfortable making a donation or any suspicious activity, please do not donate."

Anyone approached by "any questionable person or solicitors" is asked to contact the Trumbull Police Department at 203-261-3665.
