Records Set In St. Joseph's Second Straight Football Title Win

The Cadets scored on their first seven possessions on the way to a record-breaking state title victory.

SHELTON, CT — The "strike fast, strike often" philosophy was certainly evident on the St. Joseph High School side of things during Saturday's Class M championship matchup with Berlin. The Cadets found the end zone on their first seven possessions, rolling to a 49-0 halftime lead en route to a record-breaking 70-18 victory and a second consecutive state title.

Davis Summers threw four touchdown passes in the first half, plus ran for another as the Cadets broke a CIAC record for most points scored in a championship game. Weaver held the previous mark, drubbing Darien 69-26 in the Class M final in 1999.

St. Joseph followed up last season's 42-36 victory over Ansonia in the Class S finals by moving up to Class M, and elevating its offense to a whole new level.
