Remembering Pastor McIntyre

Trumbull High School Choir members to host Pastor David McIntyre Memorial Concert on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Calvary Church

My daughter is lucky enough to know Jessica McIntyre.  They are in the same class at Trumbull High School, were in "42nd Street" together freshman year, and were part of Chamber Singers, Western Region Chorus and All-State Chorus. During their time rehearsing for THS’s production of "Fiddler On The Roof" this year, my daughter learned that Jessie’s dad was sick, very sick.

Rev. David McIntyre lost a long battle with cancer on March 22 in his Trumbull home.  For the last 33 years, he’s been the Senior Pastor and Youth Pastor at Calvary Evangelical Free Church. He was a devoted husband and father to Jessie and her two sisters.

What amazed my daughter the most about the Rev. McIntyre’s passing was the great faith their family shares and the strength they found from each other and McIntyre himself. They touched everyone who knew them, especially Anne Tornillo, choir director at THS.

On May 7, from 7-10 pm, Tornillo and the THS Chamber Singers will present a concert to benefit the Rev. David McIntyre Memorial Fund at on White Plains Road. For a suggested minimum donation of $10, concertgoers will be treated to musical selections from the THS Concert Choir, Men's Ensemble, Women's Ensemble and Chamber Singers.

Whether or not you know anyone in the THS Choir, this will be a musical event not to be missed. Anyone who knew McIntrye and his family have no doubt been touched by their kindness and generous spirit.
