TRUMBULL, CT — A portion of Route 111 in Trumbull is closed Monday evening due to a serious vehicle accident in the area, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Brian Weir said around 5:30 p.m. drivers should avoid the area of Route 111 (Monroe Turnpike) north of Route 25 in Trumbull.

According to Weir, Route 111 is closed from Route 25 to the Monroe town line "due to a serious motor vehicle accident."

This section of the road will remained closed for the next several hours as Trumbull police investigate the accident, Weir said. Drivers should avoid this area and use alternate routes until further notice.
