St. Joseph Advances To FCIAC Boys Hockey Final
Goaltender Zach Carrano turns in spectacular 48-save effort in 3-2 semifinal win over Ridgefield

used a spectacular performance from goaltender Zach Carrano to advance to the FCIAC boys hockey finals for the first time in school history.
Carrano turned aside 48 shots Wednesday as the Cadets held off Ridgefield 3-2 to set up Saturday's title game matchup against undefeated New Canaan, the state's top-ranked team.
Wednesday's semifinal twinbill featured stellar goaltending all around as New Canaan blanked Darien 1-0 in the opener to improve to 22-0.

But Carrano stole the show in the nightcap, and the now the Cadets will have a chance to avenge an overtime loss to the Rams in the FCIAC semifinals last season. St. Joseph also has dropped a pair of games to New Canaan this campaign.
John Ferguson, Pat Corcoran and Matt Julian scored for the Cadets, who improved to 18-4 while avenging a 4-1 setback to Ridgefield last season.

John Richards and Tim Kelly tallied for Ridgefield (16-5-1), although Kelly's goal came with under two seconds remaining and essentially was meaningless.
