St. Joseph Boys Basketball Rallies To Defeat Bassick In Bridgeport Classic
Cadets erase 13-point halftime deficit to turn back Lions 76-69 in possible FCIAC championship game preview

In a possible FCIAC championship game preview, the boys basketball team rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit Thursday to defeat Bassick 76-69 in overtime in the Bridgeport Classic at Webster Bank Arena.
Oscar Assie scored 21 points for the Cadets, who overcame a 35-22 halftime hole. St. Joseph came out of the gate ice cold, falling behind 19-5 after the first period.
Timajh Parker and James Jennings each added 18 points for St. Joseph, which improved to 15-1 and 17-1. With the win, the Cadets clinched first place in the FCIAC East.

Thursday's game was a physical contest as the teams combined for 81 free throws. St. Joseph missed 23 free throws, connecting on 28-of-51, while the Lions were 20-of-31.
Jamill Powell scored 26 to pace Bassick, which dropped to 14-3 and 14-4.

In Thursday's first game, Bridgeport's Central High School upset Harding High School, 62-52. The loss left the Presidents in danger of missing the FCIAC playoffs.
St.Joseph is battling with Ridgefield (14-2) for the top seed in the playoffs.
The Cadets may need to win both their remaining games against Harding and Stamford to land the no. 1 seed, as their only loss came against Ridgefield on Jan. 4. Since then, St. Joseph has reeled off 12 straight victories.
