St. Joseph Boys Hockey Defeats Trinity Catholic

Christian Keator scores two goals in the Cadets' 5-2 win over the Crusaders

Junior Christian Keator scored two goals Friday as the St. Joseph boys hockey team defeated Trinity Catholic 5-2 at the Terry Conners Rink.

Senior Logan Bruneau, sophomore Ryan Corcoran and junior Zack Usinger also scored for the Cadets, who improved to 4-1. Senior goaltender Ron Johnson made 21 saves for St. Joseph while Matt Greenhut, John Ferguson and Dominic DeRosa added assists.

The Cadets have reeled off four straight wins since a season-opening 6-2 loss to Glastonbury.

St. Joseph, last season's Division I state runner-up, also has wins over Guilford (4-2), DeMatha Catholic of Maryland (4-2) and Prep school North Yarmouth Academy (4-2) . The two most recent victories came at the Maine High School Hockey Invitational.

On Friday, the Cadets broke a 2-2 tie in the third period with three unanswered power-play goals, capitalizing on the Crusaders' undisciplined play.

Trinity Catholic had pulled even with two power-play goals of its own in the second period.

Keator's goal late in the first period had given the Cadets a 1-0 lead. Johnson stopped all 11 shots he faced in the opening frame.
