Cadets avenge last year's 7-6 loss to Trojans in State finals
The seesaw three-year battle between the St.Joseph and Weston boys lacrosse teams went the Cadets' way this season.
Pat Corcoran scored four goals Wednesday as St. Joseph dethroned the Trojans as CIAC Class S state champions with an 8-6 victory in Weston.
In 2009, St. Joseph defeated Weston 12-11 in the state final with the Trojans returning the favor last year, 7-6. The latest meeting between the rivals turned into another thriller.

St. Joseph (9-8) started the scoring 1:19 in on a doorstep goal by Mike Marini. After four minutes of back and forth possession, Weston (11-7) strung together three goals in a two- minute span to mount what looked like an offensive juggernaut.
St. Joe’s defense, led by goalie Matt Mohr (14 saves), settled down and the two teams went to the half with Weston holding a 4-2 lead.

The second half started similar to the first quarter with St.Joseph's Pat Mulligan scoring at the 1:50 mark and Brian Bacarella tallying 22 seconds later to get the Cadets even.
St. Joseph was controlling the ball possession early on and began weaving in and out of the Weston defense to create scoring chances.
Corcoran took over the game, scoring twice in a 90-second span to put the Cadets up for good at 6-4. He added two more with his third goal at 8:52 of the fourth quarter proving to be the game winner
Richie Miller tallied twice for Weston and goalie Alex Peyreigne closed out his stellar high school career with 11 saves for the Trojans.
