Stonington Stuns Top Seed St. Joseph In Class M Quarterfinals
Cadets fall to the 24th-seeded Bears 4-3 in eight innings after tying the game in the bottom of the seventh on a solo homer by Conor Crouse

The season ended for the St. Joseph baseball team in stunning fashion Saturday as the top-seeded Cadets were ousted by Stonington 4-3 in eight innings in the quarterfinals of the CIAC Class M state tournament at the University of New Haven.
Conor Crouse tied the game for St. Joseph (21-4) with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh, but the 24th-seeded Bears took advantage of two errors to push across a run in the top of the eighth on an RBI single by Tyler Tavares.
The Cadets held a 2-1 lead after five innings, but Stonington tied it with a run in the sixth and went ahead in the seventh.

Jason Holcomb drove in St. Joseph's first two runs with a pair of RBI singles, one in the second and the other in the fourth.
Stonington (14-9) will take on Montville in the semifinals on Tuesday.
