Another Sort of Golf Club

The Tashua Knolls Men's Club offers many perks to its members.

has a lot of users, but the members of the Men's Club know more about it than others.

The group, formed when the club opened in the 1976, is trying to attract new members.

"For the first time this year, we're trying to reach out," said past president John Button. "You don't have to be a resident of Trumbull."

For its annual $70 membership fee, club members can get an official handicap (to make all games competitive) and compete in tournaments. Tournament winners also get credits at the pro shop.

"You don't have to be an expert golfer," Button said. "I think there's a misnomer that you have to be an expert to participate in the club."

Members can also join others in getting good tee times. "We're just trying to make it more friendly and easier," he said.

"It's really a social club," said past president William Sherlach. "You get to meet a lot of people."

The youngest club members are teenagers and there is no age limit, Button said.

He and Sherlach praised the club, saying it plays like a Country Club course but is more affordable. Trumbull residents with proof of identification can get discounts to play.

A will be held at Feb. 3. Anyone interested should ask for Sherlach or Button.
