The teen was arrested after running from a car reported stolen from Bridgeport that hit a pedestrian, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — A teen was arrested Monday at the Westfield Trumbull mall after running from a car reported stolen from Bridgeport that hit a pedestrian, according to police.
In a news release, Police Lt. Brian Weir said an officer patrolling the area noticed a Toyota RAV4 pull into the mall around 5:30 p.m.
According to Weir, the car had been reported stolen from Bridgeport on Sunday. The car is also believed to have been involved in an evading motor vehicle accident earlier that evening, during which a pedestrian was hit.

Two people were inside the car when the officer located it. While parked at the mall, five more people walked toward the car, Weir said.
As officers approached the Toyota, both occupants got out of the car and ran away, prompting officers to chase them, Weir said.

A 15-year-old male was arrested on the Main Street ramp as the others ran from the area, Weir said.
Weir said the teen identified himself to police under a false name and date of birth, however officers were later able to positively identify him. Officers also found a flat head screwdriver in the teen's sweatshirt pocket.
The teen was charged with first-degree larceny and interfering with police. He was later released on a promise to appear in juvenile court later this month, Weir said.
