Tesoro Releases Statement On Texas Shooting, Vigil Planned In Trumbull
First Selectman Vicki Tesoro has released a statement following Tuesday's shooting at an elementary school in Texas.

TRUMBULL, CT — First Selectman Vicki Tesoro has released a statement following the shooting in Uvalde, Texas that left at least 19 students and two adults dead at an elementary school.
The statement was released Wednesday morning on the town's Facebook page.
"We are all once again stunned and filled with grief at the senseless loss of life in Uvalde, Texas. I know we all stand united with the families who are suffering this morning," Tesoro said in a statement. "The lives of the children of our community and the teachers and administrators charged with their education are precious to all of us. I want to reassure you that their safety and the safety of all those who live and work here remains our highest priority.

"With the measures we took after the Sandy Hook tragedy and the stepped up police presence and other measures we have instituted today, we will continue to protect our students and staff in the Trumbull Public Schools. It is my hope that we finally, as a united nation with a common goal, take real steps to see that [Tuesday's] tragedy never happens again."
A community vigil is also planned to take place Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Town Green outside of Town Hall.

"Come together as we grieve for the countless lives lost in Uvalde, Buffalo and other communities," a description on the town website reads.
Earlier in the day, police said additional safety measures had been deployed at schools in Trumbull at least for Wednesday following the shooting in Texas.
The department also asked the members of the community "join us in keeping all the victims, families, friends, teachers, school administrators and staff, first responders, and residents of Uvalde, Texas in your thoughts and prayers. May God provide comfort and hold each one of the victims in his loving arms in eternal peace."
