The Eagles, meanwhile, still looked sluggish, failing to convert on two power-play chances in the middle period.

Trumbull could have faced an even larger deficit if not for eight blocked shots in the second period and the continued stellar play of goaltender Matt Paolini.

The Eagles finally showed some signs of life in the third asSaggese provided a spark by scoring on a breakaway early in the period.

Ahearn pulled Trumull even at 8:59, and the Eagles were able to get to overtime despite being outshot 34-19 in regulation

Greenwich dominated the overtime. However, Trumbull preserved the tie with a pair of blocked shots in the final minutes of the extra period while the Cardinals were mounting heavy pressure.
