Trumbull Boys Soccer Advances In Class LL State Tourney Play

Maybe the Trumbull boys soccer team was stilling celebrating its FCIAC championship.
But after a scoreless first half, the seventh-seeded Eagles registered three goals in the second to blank No. 26 seed New Milford 3-0 in the first round of the CIAC Class LL state tournament.
Keith Bond scored two goals and Randy Stratton added one for Trumbull, which improved to 15-1-4. The Eagles were coming off a 2-0 win over Staples in the FCIAC championship game.

The Eagles advanced to a second-round meeting on Monday with No. 10 Simsbury, which defeated No. 23 Conard 1-0 on Friday.
Nick Weinstein (3) and Dan Bond (1) combined for four saves for Trumbull, which had a 9-6 edge in shots.
