TRUMBULL, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Trumbull and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Mary Beth Thornton is running for the town council second district as a Democrat. She has been a cancer registrar and medical illustrator for 40 years. She is the incumbent for the district and is currently the chairman of the town council.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates
seeking this post?
My experience on the Town Council for more than ten years, coupled with the fact that I grew up in Trumbull, attended our public schools and then came back to raise my own children here. My dedication to this town is long-standing.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
My continued service to the Town as a Town Council Representative included the renovation of the high school, the addition of the preschool, the preservation of Great Oak Park, re-opening the planetarium at Hillcrest Junior High School, and many other initiatives that enhanced our Town.

One voice can make a difference, leadership begins with that voice.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I also served as the President of the Nichols Improvement Association and their Board of Trustees.
