Trumbull Education Association Reviews Proposed Healthcare Change
The proposed change came late into the budget season and ruffled the feathers of the association.

TRUMBULL, CT - It’s crunch time in the budget season and even more so this year as the Trumbull Education Association reviews proposed healthcare changes that could mean savings for the town.
The final Board of Finance budget vote is scheduled for March 2, according to the Trumbull Times. If the town doesn’t have an answer it will have to change the budget to avoid a shortfall.
The plan proposes a switch for all employees under the BOE system to the new state health care system. Estimated savings are $3 million, but the TEA must determine if the plan is an acceptable alternative because it comes during the middle of its contract.
Board of Edcuation chairwoman Loretta Chory said that friction over the issue between the town and union could’ve been avoided if the proposed change made by the town was announced earlier in the year.
