Trumbull Election 2015 Results: Closest Election in Town History

The results are in and they are close.

First Selectman Tim Herbst has won himself another two years after a much narrower victory than past election cycles.

Herbst won by 357 votes, the closest margin of victory in town history, according to the Trumbull Times.

In his acceptance speech Herbst said voter complacency was likely a factor in the narrow margin of victory, but that his team worked hard this election, according to the Connecticut Post.

Democrat Anthony Musto won in a narrow race.

Democrat Anthony Musto pulled ahead of Republican John Ponzio by 118 votes, according to the Trumbull Times.

Herbst narrowly lost last year in the state treasurer race against incumbent Denise Nappier. Some question whether Herbst is considering a gubernatorial bid in the future, but for now the first selectman has said he is just focused on Trumbull.
