Trumbull First Selectman Herbst Sued Again by Contractor

The town's insurer already paid $20,000 to settle a claim.

A contractor close to Gov. Dannel Malloy filed another lawsuit against Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst.

Al Barbarotta filled a defamation lawsuit against Herbst in Superior Court alleging that Herbst’s actions cost his construction company a $1.1 million with the city of Stamford, according to the Connecticut Post.

Trumbull settled a 2013 lawsuit for $20,000 after Barbarotta claimed Herbst blocked him from getting a local day care contract.

Herbst said Barbarotta is disappointed with the outcome of recent litigation, which amounted to a “nuisance value payment” by the town’s insurer.
