Trumbull Football Routed By Danbury, 39-14

Eagles drop to 2-4 after their fourth consecutive loss

Trumbull could not stop Danbury's potent backfield duo of James Harrington and Austin Calitro.

Harrington and Calitro each rushed for more than 100 yards and combined for five touchdowns Friday as the Hatters rolled to a 39-14 victory over the slumping Eagles, who suffered their fourth straight loss.

Harrington staked the Hatters (4-3) to a 15-0 lead with TD runs of 11 and 6 yards in the first quarter.

The Eagles got back in the game on a 6-yard TD run by Don Cherry, but Danbury scored the next 24 points to break it open.

After Harrington reached the end zone from 13 yards out -- his third score of the night -- Calitro plowed in on runs of 1 and 19 yards. Hunter Leilli then booted a 35-yard field goal to make it 39-7.

Trumbull made it a bit more respectable on a late 8-yard TD run by David Briganti 8 run.

The Eagles dropped to 2-4 after opening with two wins and again denied coach Bob Maffei his 100th career victory at Trumbull.
