Trumbull Gas Station Fails Tobacco Inspection

A clerk sold cigarettes to a minor, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Trumbull gas station failed a surprise tobacco inspection after an underage youth was allowed to buy cigarettes, according to police.

Trumbull Police along with the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services conducted checks at 11 local businesses. Ten of the businesses passed when they refused to sell cigarettes to a minor, said Capt. Keith Golding, police spokesman.

A clerk at the Trumbull Mobil Center on White Plains Road failed the inspection and was issued a $200 infraction for sale of tobacco to minors under 18. The cigarette dealer license holder at the establishment will also face additional sanctions.
