Trumbull Mom's Advocacy Helps Advance Child Medical Marijuana Bill

Trumbull resident Joy O'Meara testified at the capitol in favor of the bill. Her son suffers from epileptic seizures.

TRUMBULL, CT- The advocacy of a Trumbull mother helped advance a bill that could mean the legal use of medical marijuana for people under the age of 18 in Connecticut.

Resident Joy O'Meara testified in front of the Public Health Committee at the capitol earlier this month. Her son Jamison, 7, suffers from intractable epilepsy and has seizures despite taking five different medications four times a day, according to the Trumbull Times.

The bill would allow those under 18 to take medical marijuana with the consent of their parents for certain illnesses. It still has to make it through both house and senate chambers before being passed.
