Trumbull Officials Now Cannot Bid for Town Work

This is a first step in revamping the town's code of ethics.

A new rule in Trumbull will prevent any public official from submitting bids to do business with the town.

An article in the Trumbull Times said the Trumbull Town Council approved, on a party line vote, the new policy.

Eliminated is the conflict of interest section of the town’s Purchasing Policy and Procedures. It was replaced by Resolution TC25-207 that prohibits public officials from having anything other than an official relationship with the town.

First Selectman Tim Herbst, who proposed the rule, was quoted by the Times saying, “You can either be a town official or do business with the town. You can’t do both.”
