Trumbull PD Participates In Envelope Program For Autistic Drivers

The program makes interactions between drivers with autism spectrum disorder and law enforcement easier.

TRUMBULL, CT — Trumbull Police are taking part in a state program that helps people with autism spectrum disorder interact with law enforcement during a traffic stop.

Drivers on the autism spectrum can obtain a blue envelope that is used to hold their driver's license, insurance, registration and other motor vehicle documents. The envelope has tips on how to interact with law enforcement during a traffic stop. The envelopes are available at police department headquarters.
