Trumbull Ready For Babe Ruth World Series

The team take on Tri-Township of Pennsylvania, the Mid-Atlantic Region champion, in its first game on Saturday in Jamestown. N.Y.

After a two-week wait, the Trumbull 15-year-old All-Stars are ready for the Babe Ruth World Series, which begins Saturday in Jamestown, N.Y.

The team arrived in Jamestown on Thursday and will attend a tournament banquent on Friday before playing its first game on Saturday at 12 p.m. against Tri-Township, Pa., the Mid-Atlantic Region champion. 

After an off day on Sunday, Trumbull is back in action on Monday against host Jamestown at 7:35 p.m. Trumbull faces Sarasota, Fla., on Tuesday and concludes pool play on Wednesday against Centralia, Wash.

The top three teams in each of the two five-team pools advance to the single elimination playoffs. The quarterfinals are set for Thursday, followed by the semifinals next Friday and the championship game on Aug. 27. The winner of each group receives a bye into the semifinals.

The 10-team World Series field is comprised of the champions of each of the eight national regions (New England, Middle Atlantic, Ohio Valley, Southeast, Midwest Plains, Southwest, Pacific Northwest and Pacific Southwest) as well as the Western New York state champions and the host team.

All 25 games of the tournament will be held at Russell E. Diethrick, Jr. Park, home of the Class A Jamestown Jammers of the NY-Penn League.

Trumbull, which lost in the state finals last year, is 11-0 in the postseason and 29-9 overall this season
