TRUMBULL, CT — Real estate, personal property, sewer assessment and motor vehicle taxes are due in January in Trumbull.

According to the town website, the January installment of property taxes and personal property taxes is due Jan. 1, 2024. The January installment of property taxes and personal property taxes on the Grand List of 2022 is due and payable on Jan. 1, 2024.

If payment is not made by Feb. 1, 2024, the installment will become delinquent and subject to interest at the rate of 1.5 percent per month from the installment due date. Minimum interest charge is $2, according to town officials.

Supplemental motor vehicle tax bills are due in full on Jan. 1, 2024. Section 12-71B of the General Statutes of Connecticut states that a motor vehicle registered between Oct. 2, 2022, and Sept. 30, 2023, must be taxed and said tax is due in full during January 2024, according to town officials.

If payment is not made by Feb. 1, 2024, the supplemental tax bill will become delinquent and subject to interest charges at the rate of 1.5 percent per month from the due date. Minimum interest charge is $2, according to town officials.

Taxpayers are still liable for payment in full on bills received in July 2023 based on Oct. 1, 2022 assessment, according to town officials.

The January installment of sewer assessment billing is due and payable Jan. 1, 2024. If payment is not made by Feb. 1, 2024, the installment will become delinquent and subject to interest at the rate of 1-1.5 percent per month from the installment due date.

Minimum interest charge is $5. Sewer assessments are currently not available to view or pay online, according to town officials.

Town officials also noted failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt a resident from payment of tax or penalty. Taxes may be paid by mail or online at www.trumbull-ct.gov/285/Online-Tax-InquiryPayment-System.

The postmark will be used to determine if a payment was mailed on time. Be sure that your check is made out correctly, or it will be returned, town officials said.

Payments may be made at the office of the Tax Collector in Town Hall, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sewer assessment payments may be made at the Tax Collector's office or by mail only.
