Trumbull Rep. Devlin Supports Student Loan Bill of Rights
The bill seeks to regulate student loan servicers and help parents and borrowers.

State Rep. Laura Devlin announced that she will support legislation to create a Student Loan Bill of Rights as students across the state rack up enormous amounts of debt.
The bill, An Act concerning a Student Bill of Rights wasuniously supported in the House of Representatives.
The act aims to establish a student loan ombudsman to assist borrowers and parents and regulate student loan servicers.

“I am proud to support this bill as it will go a long way in providing college students the resources and information they need to make sound decisions regarding their student loan debt and their financial future,” she said. “As a parent with college-age kids, I understand the stress that students and families face throughout the process. It’s my hope that the student loan ombudsman will be helpful in this process.”
Median student loan debt is greater than $30,000, Devlin said.
