Trumbull Resident Dies From Coronavirus

TRUMBULL, CT — A 85-year-old Trumbull resident died due to complications from the new coronavirus, said First Selectman Vicki Tesoro.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this resident," Tesoro said.

Trumbull has 48 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Monday. Connecticut overall has 6,906 cases and 206 associated deaths.

"I know these are very challenging times for all of us. I am very appreciative of how many of you have responded to our requests, staying home and minimizing social interaction," Tesoro said. "Your actions help to lessen the strain on all our First Responders and health professionals thereby protecting everyone’s health and safety."

Good Afternoon,
This is First Selectman Vicki Tesoro, with an important COVID-19 update:
Since my last call to the community on Friday we’ve lost our first Trumbull resident to the coronavirus. I was informed today by our Health Director that an 85-year old Trumbull resident has passed away. We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this resident.
As of today, we have 48 laboratory confirmed cases in Trumbull. There are 6,906 confirmed cases in CT and 206 associated deaths. This data is now coming from the state website.
My thoughts continue to be with all of our residents in Trumbull, especially our neighbors who are suffering with this illness or are dealing with other issues due to this virus. I want to again thank our First Responders and health professionals who continue to make sacrifices to ensure that our community remains safe.
I know these are very challenging times for all of us. I am very appreciative of how many of you have responded to our requests, staying home and minimizing social interaction. Your actions help to lessen the strain on all our First Responders and health professionals thereby protecting everyone’s health and safety.
I again urge those who are not following the restrictions and guidelines to please stay home. I cannot emphasize this enough. As the number of cases continues to increase throughout Fairfield County, this guidance is of utmost importance.
I will have more information in an upcoming message on additional restrictions in Town and enforcement protocols, some of which have already begun.

The meeting will also be streamed live on the Town of Trumbull Facebook page and will later be broadcast on Trumbull Community Television, Charter channel 194 and Frontier channel 99. I hope you will be able to watch this important meeting.
If you need to go out into the public, practice social distancing, wear a face mask and gloves if you have them, and avoid gatherings of any type. Proper precautions can help slow the spread of this virus and prevent deaths related to COVID-19.
