Trumbull Schools Facing Large Budget Deficit

TRUMBULL, CT — Trumbull's school system is facing a budget deficit that is estimated to be somewhere between $1.2 and $1.5 million.

Interim Superintendent Ralph Iassogna imposed a spending freeze and a suspension of overtime in order to cut costs as much as possible, according to the Trumbull Times.

Some of the biggest contributors to the deficit is special education spending, health costs and higher energy costs.

Trumbull schools aren't alone in facing budget woes. The Monroe Public School system is also facing a large budget deficit due to higher than anticipated special education and health costs.
