Trumbull senior linebacker Don Cherry, a key cog in the Eagles' march to the CIAC Class LL state championship game last year, has been named preseason All-State by ESPNHS.

Cherry also was named as one of the top 30 players in the state by MSG Varsity. The 6-2, 220-pounder, who also plays as a fullback on offense, scored 10 touchdowns last season and recorded 14 tackles in the CIAC Class LL state title game against Xavier.

ESPNHS listed senior offensive lineman Grant Roman and senior defensive lineman Zack Voyteck as players to watch.

For St. Joseph, which is coming off its second consecutive state championship, junior linebacker Mike Pulaski was tabbed All-State. Pulaski is looking to surpass the century mark in tackles for the second straight season.
